Notations from Gridville

Image
I think of my friend Vincent Quatroche, a voice in the wilderness of Gridville, disguised to pass as a sleepwalker, yet noticing every moment, every nuance of tone, taking notes chronicling time's movement and speaking out.  These images remind me of Vincent and his palette of words, and of his time  in  Gridville . Memorial Day-2018

Image
I saw  an images of two GIs sitting on a bench or a log, they had survived being Prisoners of War - somewhere in the Pacific.  It amazes me that we persist at throwing each other into walls, with some kind of  conviction that if we throw enough humanity at those walls they will crumble and we will be free. But, by then the  piles of bodies, the stench of decay will be so immense that without even knowing we will have built a wall constructed by our own making, a wall that we will never scale. It's seems it always the other guy's fault- but we know in our heart of hearts it isn't. We think we know everything, we know nothing. Current Events Digital Proof, 22" X 30" 2018

Whispers from the East

The Fire Next Time

Image
Most of the recent images posted on this blog have been generated with MAX/MSP. Posted as digital proofs. The image below is  hand printed using a process closely akin to hand lithography.   Each piece consists of 6 panels, hand  printed, assembled, one-offs, mounted on canvas, hand colored and sealed. Before each session, I tweak my MAX Patch and go.  Much like going out to make images, being present to the moment. The MAX patch has been created so that it is almost impossible to have the same image seen twice.  This piece will be included in a two-person Exhibition with Marilyn Propp at the Kenosha Public Museum in September.     "The Fire Next Time, Notations from Gridville" 22" X 29" Paper plate lithograph W/ Hand coloring

Fishing 5/15/18

Image
IT'S ABOUT FISHING   I go to the fishing hole - in this case MAX, I've stocked the pond with images, and I have a good line, and the equipment is tested and sound.  I cast the line, pull the switch, push some buttons and off I go. I wait for the tug, the impulse. reeled in, cast into memory.   Madonna of the Roofs Digital Proof Tears For What Is Lost Digital Proof We're Visitors Here Digital Proof
