Thinking about all this Independence stuff, fireworks, the melting pot, where we all came from. I know most  if not all of my family came from somewhere  where else originally.  There are those who would like to build walls.   Tear down the walls! Where did your family originate from? What color was your independence day? 7-4-2015  The American Dream

Waiting,  for the phone to ring. Sealed from the heat, around me the hum of fans and conditioners of air. Yesterday I fiddled with cameras, instruments, pens, and technology. It felt as if everything was gone, as if it never was. I wondered if other people go through this? High and Dry Sept 2010

Flash Back

It's May 26, 1973, Marilyn Propp and I are dancing to the Grateful Dead in the outfields of Kezar Stadium. Found a superb recording on Archive.org tonight of that concert. Several days later, we would hop in our 67 VW Bus and head east, to a city that was but a dot on the map. 43 years later, thoughts of the miles from there to here and back.  Seeking the Other  looking around corners. 2015

As we get further into ideas and farther away from making things, we are losing our ability to make objects that have meaning, even with the attendant statement. A while back I attended an art event where a selection of BEST work by graduates from local art schools was on display. The most consistent element of the whole exhibition was how their things were executed (dare I say crafted). H...

The Department of Interdisciplinary Arts @ Columbia College Chicago offers a five-day intensive called Connected Images.  It's a part of their MA Program and I must say it was one of the more profound experiences I've had in a while. A small group of individuals working in close proximity of one another and pushing the boundaries of their own practice, guided by the insightful, compassionate, practiced and disciplined faculty, Jenny Magnus and Sheri Antonini The following photograph was taken by BJ Allen  of a piece that I created and performed during Connected Images.
