documenting works in the flat file.

For the last several weeks, I have been photographing the contents of my flat files, with two drawers done and three more to go. and then several boxes more to go.

In 1988 I printed for Landfall Press; that gig lasted for around 2 years. One of the early collaborations was with the artist Lance Kiland. We did a series of prints, this is one out of 4 that consisted of relief block prints dropped on top of colors printed via lithography.  What a challenge and a joy. This image remains one of my favorites.

While searching for information regarding Dupuytren's contracture, a condition I have, I came across an interview with a musician who has had surgery to relieve the symptoms and give him back some of the flexibiltiy needed to play guitar. He was talking about patience and not being in a hurry, letting go of expectations.

Somewhere in the reading, this popped up: "Violence is the last refuge for the incompetent." It is a quote from Isaac Asimov from his book Foundation. Guess I am going to need to read that one.

This image seemed to go with the quote. I found an image on the internet, printed it out, and drew on top of it with pen and ink.
