SKYPE PORTAITS

Tuesday, March 31, 15   I wait and wait and look into the monitor,  looking searching for some recognition. But I also look for some resemblance,  do we look alike,  are we related.   Am I manufacturing a connection? Yes, we came from  the same egg  the same sperm –   We were together for almost nine months then three years.   A while back, I talked to a twin couple, I could tell them apart – even though they were identical.   We talked about you – your being a part me and me being alone in my twinness. They seemed to understand.   Two individuals bound at birth. And the Sunday we Skyped Your hair slicked back, sideburns bushy and wild.   I could imagine  a pack of cigarettes rolled up into your white t-shirt sleeve, your jeans hung down just so. No, that was an image of my cousin,  but for a moment, for a slice of a moment, I could see him,...

Skype conversation with Stephen

Skype - March 29 2015  3PM Pizza  Cheese and Pepperoni are his favorites. Animated, moving fast, rocking side to side I wonder what he is trying to say, convey. I wonder what he feels what is revealed? There has to be something  or is it my wish that there is.

Digital of Proof -"The Lucky Dragon"

Image
"The Lucky Dragon" 2/15/2015 19.50" x 15.50" (this is a digital proof of what is to come) The Lucky Dragon Suite  was a series of prints Hugh Merrill  created 1985 about  a Japanese fishing vessel  and her crew caught in a radioactive  shower, the result of an  American hydrogen bomb that had been  detonated 80 miles from where the  Lucky Dragon had anchored. I have this memory of  Hugh working with ferocity  and fervor, as if he were attempting  to exorcise the knowledge  of something so horrific, that  like the bomb it sears  images of shadows into one’s memory.  Scraping, erasing, printing, etching,   adding and deleting and repeating until  the images had morphed into monolithic obelisks forever expressing their  condemnation.

The day after Christmas
